About

I am a ferrotype (tintype) and ambrotype (positive on glass) artist and photographer in the Richmond Virginia area. I have lived about three lifetimes worth of adventures, from professional cave guide, US Army paratrooper, IT professional, world traveler, and photographer. My outlook on life is that it is too short and valuable to spend being comfortable in the world of routines, true life is found at the edges of our comfort zones.

I have photographed in Bosnia (1995/96), and Iraq( 2003/04/06) during armed conflict which has had an impact on the way I see the world. My photographic interest include photographic stories, adventure sport photography, and fine art ferrotype/ambrotype work. A special area of interest for me is the combination of historical and modern photographic process and elements. The equipment that I use in my work spans over 140 years of photographic history from modern digital hardware to vintage 1800’s optics and cameras.
